Melville Golf and Country Club
Melville's golf course is one of the oldest golf courses in Saskatchewan,
dating back to the beginning of this century. For most of its existence it has had sand
greens, but all 18 holes were made into grass greens by 1984. A creek slices down the centre
of the course and is in play on most of its holes, crossing the fairway in the majority of
cases. The fairways are generally open and quite rolling. They are of average width and are
usually forgiving, except on holes 10 through 14. On these holes an out of bounds on the
right-hand side makes them play quite narrow. The O/B is one of the primary reasons Melville’Äôs
13th hole is considered its most difficult. Your landing zone off the tee is tightly
controlled by the O/B and a gathering of trees on the left. The green is also an elusive
target due to more trees, its small size, and the continuation of the O/B. Another great hole
is the picturesque 4th. Trees on both sides of the fairway, plus the creek crossing it at the
235 yard mark, help make it Melville’Äôs signature hole.
