Rock Creek Golf Course
Don’Äôt make the mistake like many first time visitors and take Rock Creek’Äôs 3064
yard 9 hole layout too lightly. This is a golf course with many hidden challenges - many that
only become apparent after you’Äôve experienced them - and the inattentive can easily be stung.
One of the first misperceptions the golfer must overcome is that the course is not as flat as
it appears. In fact, most of its holes possess subtle uphill or downhill slopes which can
easily add or subtract yards from your drives (causing to overshoot or undershoot your
targets). Another common misperception is that the course is open. True, there aren’Äôt many
trees in play, but many of the holes are lined with hedges which come into play far more often
than a golfer might wish. Both of these factors are in play on Rock Creek’Äôs most challenging
hole - the 6th. Already somewhat long for a par three at 202 yards, the hole plays even longer
than its posted yardage thanks to the fact it plays uphill from the tee. Not only must your
tee shot be long, it must also be straight to avoid hedges, berms and bunkers enroute to an
extremely tricky three tiered green. Consider par here a very good score.
