Regina ’Äì (Balgonie)
Green Acres Golf Club Ltd.
Located a short 10 minute drive east of Regina on Highway 46, Green Acres caters to
all skill levels with nine easy walking but strategically demanding holes of golf. The course
was designed and built in 1963 by the Kolb family, who still operate the course. The course
lies on level terrain surrounded by grain fields, but boasts an abundance of trees and water
in play. This makes Green Acres play much tighter than you might expect for a prairie course.
Perhaps the course’Äôs toughest hole, the 5th is a 490 yard par five, that requires decisive
decision making right off the tee. With a water hazard crossing the fairway at 220 yards,
golfers must decide whether to lay-up shy of the hazard or go for broke and carry the drive
with a pounding drive. Success with the latter option will make reaching the hole’Äôs tiny green
in regulation that much easier. Green Acres’Äô signature hole is the par three 4th. Here golfers
must carry water immediately off the tee as well as navigate some tall trees which partially
obscure view of the green. Tee shots must be played high and on the money to have any chance
at par. A great par three!
