Mervin & District Golf Club
The installation of grass greens in 1988 has done much to make this golf course
popular and it has seen its relatively small membership grow steadily since that year.
Designed by Rick Webb, the greens were constructed entirely through the aid of volunteer
labour. The fairways here are of short to average length and yield forgiving lies due to their
level nature. Not so forgiving is the mature northern forest which defines many of the
fairways. The automated watering system on the fairways has created extremely lush playing
conditions. Stands of tall birch, poplar and pine trees await poorly hit balls, and frequently
become their final resting place. The greens at Mervin and District Golf Club are of average
size and many of them are subtly contoured. A sandtrap behind the 6th green combines with an
out-of-bounds area on the right of the green to make this hole Mervin and District’Äôs most
challenging. Make sure to get as much distance as you can off the tee on this par four, in
order to make your approach as short and easy as possible. If you have come to Mervin to enjoy
the excellent camping and fishing in the area, this pleasant little course makes for a
relaxing change of pace.
