Indian Head Golf & Country Club
In 1972 the town of Indian Head and the PFRA Tree Nursery joined forces to
landscape former prairie pastureland. This visionary project created a stunningly beautiful 9
hole golf course. Indian Head’Äôs gently undulating fairways are bordered by more than 30,000
trees and shrubs. Mature pine and spruce, lilacs, dogwoods, rose bushes and other prairie
trees and shrubs are home to a variety of prairie songbirds that give the course a natural
park-like feel. The overall effect is an easy walking course that provides a challenge to the
most dis¬‚crim¬‚i¬‚nat¬‚ing player. The challenge is most obvious on the 4th hole, a 435 yard par
four. It plays left to right on the fairway, generally into the wind, so you’Äôll have to adjust
your shots ac¬‚cord¬‚ing¬‚ly to reach the small two-tiered green with any hope of making par. The
picturesque 8th hole is another par four at 279 yards. The trick is to overcome the grove of
poplar trees in the middle of the fair¬‚way at 180 yards to reach the scenic green tucked into
a mature spruce plantation. Indian Head is only 20 kilometres from the spectacular Qu’ÄôAppelle
Valley, with the Rural Sports Hall of Fame, the Indian Head Museum and the PFRA Shelter Belt
and Experimental Farm nearby.
