PARRY SOUND
Parry Sound Golf & Country Club
With a course rating of 132, a rating usually associated with championship length
courses, the Parry Sound Golf & Country Club is likely one of the most challenging
6,000 yard courses in Canada. It was designed by golf architect Thomas McBroom who carved its
18 spectacular holes from virgin pre-cambrian shield on the shores of scenic Georgian Bay. All
holes are bordered by dense forest, which gives them narrow, tight playing fairways and
unforgiving roughs. As such, it is critical to keep your ball in play at Parry Sound if you
are to remain in contention for par, for you can almost always count on adding at least one
recovery stroke every time you stray from the fairway. Many golfers familiar with the course
gain precision in their games by opting to use their more accurate irons whenever they can,
and keeping their woods in their bags as much as possible. Overall, the back nine plays a
little easier than the front nine, and if you can survive the first few holes intact you’Äôre
likely on your way to a good round. A saving grace of the course are its very large modern
style greens, which make excellent targets for your approach shots and can be counted on to
yield true reads and consistently good putting surfaces. If you’Äôre in Parry Sound you owe it
to yourself to test your game against this superb course.
