Almaguin Highlands Katrine Golf & Country Club Inc.
As its name suggests, the ’ÄúAlmaguin Highlands’Äù Katrine Golf and Country Club has been designed in the Scottish links style. Even the scenery along the beautiful Magnetewan River, which flows past the golf course and is in play on two holes, is reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands. The terrain here is very hilly with many steep crests and valleys, and uphill and downhill lies are common on the course. This is not a course where golfers can just let the ball fly without considering the consequences. Almost always disaster lurks nearby, either in the presence of thick trees or strategically placed hazards. In fact, special care was taken in the designing of the course to place water and sand hazards so that they would significantly affect a golfer’Äôs decision making process. The course’Äôs signature hole is the par three 3rd. This 156 yard gem features the Magnetewan River on its right side and a small green protected in front by a bunker. After your round be sure to take time to enjoy some refreshment on the Almaguin’Äôs screened in patio, one of the largest in the Muskokas and a great place to swap golf stories.
