Sauble Golf & Country Club
Named for the scenic Sauble River which flows past its 3rd and 4th holes, the
Sauble Golf & Country Club lies on the gently rolling Algonquin plain that is well
treed throughout. The wide variety of coniferous and deciduous trees, including poplars,
willows and skyrocket cedars, makes for a colourful backdrop for your game, especially in the
fall. The most challenging hole on the course is the 8th, a narrow 440 yard par four with
trees running along both sides of the fairway. In addition to the narrowness of the fairway,
the hole’Äôs renowned difficulty is also caused by a pond located about 240 yards off the tee,
which has been known to gobble more than its fair share of tee shots. The key to success here
is to aim your tee shot to the left of a large tee that lies on the fairway near the pond.
Another tough hole is the 6th. This 150 yard par three requires a tee shot over water to an
elevated green. Because of the presence of the water many golfers tend to overshoot the green,
leaving themselves with an extremely tricky recovery shot in the process. After your round
take time to enjoy a drink or a light meal in Bogey’Äôs Pub, a favourite place for golfers to
unwind and swap tall tales.
