Maitland Country Club
The Maitland Country Club is a beautiful nine hole course that sits on the banks of
the Maitland River near where it flows into Lake Huron. As such, views of the lake can be
quite stunning, especially around sunset when the sky lights up with an amazing display of
colour. The course was established back in 1921 and possesses all the character and atmosphere
one would expect from a course of its mature years. It features a well treed, somewhat hilly
layout that provides both a wonderfully scenic backdrop for golf and enough tactical hazards
for challenging play. Maitland’Äôs most demanding hole is the par four 4th. Measuring 415 yards
from the back tees, this dogleg left requires a long and accurate tee shot to take a trio of
tall trees at the corner out of play. The second shot to the hole’Äôs small, well bunkered
greens requires an equivalent amount of golfing skill, and golfers who make this green in
regulation can pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
