Summerlea Golf Club
Situated near beautiful Lake Scucog in the midst of a prime vacation area, Summerlea is a superbly maintained executive-length golf course that offers a quick but always challenging round of golf. Target style golf is mandatory at Summerlea, where the smaller than average greens present a perfect opportunity for iron practice. Average handicappers, however, will still be hitting woods off the tee on the rolling hilly fairways. Summerlea’Äôs 2nd hole, a par four at 260 yards, is gorgeous as well as challenging. From a high, elevated tee you hit down into the valley and then back up to a two-tiered, elevated green that is long, narrow and tucked neatly into the trees. Other tough challenges at Summerlea include the 5th, 12th and 15th holes. On the 5th, stay right off your tee shot, as the fairway slopes drastically downward from right to left. Watch out for the out-of-bounds that runs along the entire length of the left side of the 13th fairway, a long par four at 310 yards. And finally, beware of the mammoth sand trap that guards the green on the 15th - this bunker gets a lot of play.
