TREHERNE
Delahunt Golf & Country Club
With a new clubhouse in 2005, Delahunt Golf & Country Club is celebrating
more than 35 years of service to the town of Treherne. This beautiful course was a town
project from the outset, with its people putting their time, money and labour into its
construction. Today, the people of Treherne can step back and look on their efforts with pride
as Delahunt has matured into a truly fine golf course. Large oak, poplar and spruce trees line
many of its fairways, making most of them tight and unforgiving. This is especially true on
the course’Äôs most difficult hole, the 460 yard 8th. While not overly long for a par five, the
90o dogleg in this fairway is sure to cause a few problems. Because of the height of the trees
that surround it, it is very difficult (if not impossible) to cut the corner. Therefore a
booming drive from the tee is required if you have aspirations of reaching the green in two.
Other holes worthy of mention are the long 2nd and 9th holes (both measuring in at well over
500 yards) and the 210 yard 6th, long for a par three. Of these ’Äúmini-monsters’Äù the 2nd hole
is probably the most difficult due to its very tough green (beware of heavy mounding in
front).
