Deloraine Golf & Country Club
Arranged in a semi-circle, the holes of the Deloraine Golf & Country Club
radiate outwards from the town reservoir and the small valley in which it sits. In times when
there is enough rain this reservoir will spill over into a ditch which runs through-out the
course. Because the course lies in the foot-hills of the Turtle Mountains, its fairways are
reasonably hilly, contributing to some very interesting lies off the tee. Otherwise,
Deloraine’Äôs fairways are reasonably open, allowing you to throw caution to the wind and go for
maximum distance on most of your drives. You will need that distance on Deloraine’Äôs most
challenging hole, the par four 2nd. This hole seems much longer than its 407 yards because it
plays uphill over its entire length. Additional problems are created by heavy undulations in
the fairway, which prevent most drives from getting extra distance once contact with the
ground is made. Other challenges on the course come from the reservoir which creates
formidable water hazards on the 3rd and 4th holes. If you’Äôre a big hitter, you can consider
cutting the corner (at the risk of getting wet) on the 4th in an effort to set up a very short
approach to the green.
