Sandhills Golf & Country Club
At 3228 yards in total length, the Sandhills Golf & Country Club is one of
the longest 9 hole courses in the province. It is also one of the more beautiful. Its rolling
fairways are lined by tall stands of spruce and poplar, sheltering the course from the wind
and giving it a quiet, secluded atmosphere. A premium is placed on accuracy on this course.
Its many doglegs (and the thick trees that guard them) require golfers to place their tee
shots optimally to set up their second drives. This is precisely what must be done on the 1st
hole. A 375 yard par four, the hole doglegs slightly to the right, removing the green from
view. For your best look at the green with your second shot, aim your initial drive towards
the middle left of the fairway. Improvements to Sandhills in the last few years include larger
tee boxes which have done much to improve the appearance and play of the course. As well, sand
bunkers have been added around a few of the course’Äôs large greens. Most recently several
ladies’Äô tee boxes have been added.
