Blackburn Meadows Golf Club
Blackburn Meadows Golf Club is a popular destination for tourists. We are located
10 minutes south of the village of Ganges and have a reputation for being a very friendly,
family oriented course lying alongside Blackburn Lake. The golf course has won International
recognition for being totally organically maintained. The first one in Canada, it lies in the
marshlands and waterways of the Blackburn Valley. Since it’Äôs opening in 1994, this course has
matured beautifully. The original links style layout is still present and flourishes with
nature and its wildlife. During the season, 56 varieties of birds either nest or stay and feed
on their migration route. You will often see the deer and hear the sound of frogs as you play.
This target-links style 9 hole course with the boardwalks and wildlife habitat offers
different levels of play to both the experienced and the beginner golfers. The 1608 yards is
divided up into 5 par 4’Äôs and 4 par 3’Äôs, with the longest hole measuring 251 yards. This is
our signature hole with a boardwalk through the marshlands which from the blue tee you have to
carry the ball over to the fairway. The large bentgrass greens and grass tees offer the
experienced golfer a challenging short course while their family can join them at their
different levels of play. A foursome can complete nine holes within two hours leaving the rest
of the day to see Salt Spring Island. To get to the Island you can take either the Crofton
ferry if you travel from the mid island or from Swartz Bay if you are on the south end of
Vancouver Island. There is a direct ferry from Tsawassen to Salt Spring if you are visiting
from the mainland.
