Granite Pointe
The pride of the town of Nelson, Granite Pointe unveiled its new 18 hole layout in
1993 to rave reviews. The expansion had been entrusted to respected architect Bill Newis of
Calgary, who capitalized on the course’Äôs precarious perch overlooking the 85 mile long
Kootenay Lake. Newis’Äô design called for the removal of thousands of tons of granite to create
a course both challenging and aesthetically pleasing. Chosen as one of the top 10 holes in
British Columbia by the Vancouver Province, the 16th is a par four with spectacular views of
the lake and the distant Kokanee Glacier.
