Set high atop the Swan Hills, this challenging 9 hole layout offers a good test to any golfer’Äôs game. At 3,500’Äô above sea level, not only does you ball fly farther, but your eyes wander as well with some breathtaking vistas. Narrow undulating fairways, elevated tees and greens, and heavy bush are all part of this wilderness golf experience. Finished in 1989, the course is a testament to the volunteer efforts of the people of Swan Hills and the generous support of the numerous oil patch companies that are the lifeblood of the community. At 515 yards, the par 5, 6th is a grip it and rip it hole, but beware of the stray ball as it can disappear as fast as it leaves the tee. The view from the 9th tee is spectacular, but don’Äôt let your mind wander too far as the tee shot here needs accurate placement with O.B. left and heavy rough right. A good tee shot here still leaves 150 yards to a small green. A good finishing hole. With Krause Lake campground within walking distance, excellent fishing and an abundance of wildlife nearby, the wilderness playground of Swan Hills offers something for everyone.
