Pipestone Golf Club
Named for the nearby Pipestone Creek (which is not in play on the course), this is
a family built and family operated golf course. Pipestone was created with a western motif and
features attractive details such as wagon flower beds, a 1937 country school house and various
horse drawn farming implements scattered throughout the property. In keeping with this theme,
the pro shop features decorative pieces built not only with the style reflecting this era, but
also with the actual wood from an old farmhouse. Bordering on executive length, Pipestone
totals a modest 5851 yards over its 18 holes. Its fairways are generally level with the
exception of two holes which play up and down a hill. The overall layout of the course favours
novice and family play, with enough challenge for the low handicapper. One of its better holes
is the short 13th - a 116 yard par three that is much tougher than it first appears. Your tee
shot must play uphill to a small, sloped green. Place your shot to the left and you are in the
trees. Place it too long and you’Äôre over the hill. If you’Äôre lucky enough to make the green
with your tee shot you still can’Äôt relax as the green’Äôs putting surface is notoriously
difficult.
