Fairview Golf Club
One of the more popular courses in Peace River Country, Fairview Golf Club is well
known for its exhilarating, natural setting. The thick bush and native trees that surround
Fairview are teeming with wildlife. Moose, deer, beavers, and a variety of bird species
frequent the course, making Fairview a perfect retreat to both enjoy the game of golf and ’Äúget
away from it all’Äù. Fairview opened for play in 1945 and very quickly replaced its sand greens
with grass. In 1980, it added a complete irrigation system and also built a new clubhouse. An
interesting feature of Fairview is the amount of water it has. Benefiting from its position
next to a lake, this 9 hole course has water in play on every hole. In some cases the water
is, at best, a minor hazard. However, on holes such as the difficult #6, water causes real
problems. With water on both sides of the fairway, golfers have a very narrow landing area
from the tee. And this hole remains tricky near the green where sand bunkers almost completely
encircle the target.
